Gov. Martin O'Malley Discusses Slots on MPT
Governor Martin O'Malley Discusses Slots with Jeff Salkin on Direct Connection (Maryland Public Television) on October 19, 2011.
Jeff Salkin: The folks who own Rosecroft want some slot machines there. They say the state would rake in $300+ million a year in added taxes if they get it. I believe the Senate President is disposed favorably towards that, how do you see it?
Governor Martin O'Malley: The Prince George's County Delegation was adamantly against that. And that's why, in the five locations that we sent to the voters to ratify in referendum, there was not a Prince George's County location in that referendum. If the Prince George's County delegation, if the County Executive and his delegation, feel differently about that and would like us to reconsider that then I'm sure that many in the General Assembly and I would like to do that. But unless they were to have a change of heart, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for us to try to put another location in a county that is adamantly opposed to it.
